Job Description

THE POSITION Reporting to the Operations Engineer, the successful candidate will be involved in a range of forest engineering and planning duties. Primary responsibilities will include First Nations liaison and management, reconnaissance development planning and timber forecasting. Secondary responsibilities could include a multitude of duties which will be dependent upon the successful candidate’s skill set but could include any of the following: road and cutblock layout supervision, cruising supervision, cutting permit appraisal data preparation, road designs, bridge design, construction and maintenance supervision, deactivation plan preparation and contract supervision.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience in coastal forestry conditions and be registered, or eligible to register, with the Association of BC Forest Professionals. Preference will be given to candidates who possess excellent communication and organizational skills, are a strong team player and have a solid coastal engineering and timber background. In addition, candidates who can withstand the demands of field work, are familiar with the use of Road Eng, Microsoft Office, Arc Map and who have familiarity with relevant government legislation will be also be viewed favorably. Experience with Cenfor and Forest Ops software would be considered an asset.
