An opportunity exists for an accredited forest professional with advanced GIS skills to join our Forest Resources Department at Peace River Pulp.
As a GIS Forester, you will show exceptional creativity and initiative in supporting the forest management team. You will provide production support for forest management plans, operational plans, and silviculture. Duties will include supervising the collection and analysis of growth and yield data, preparation of inventory and modeling data, mapping, data maintenance, and analyses. A significant portion of your time will be spent developing GIS solutions. Your excellent communication skills will be required daily and you will represent the company in front of government, public, and external organizations. You will manage large individual responsibility within a dynamic team environment.
Preference may be given to those individuals with skills and/or aptitude to perform timber supply modeling.

Job Qualifications
POSITION CRITERIA:
The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a recognized Forestry Program with work experience using ARC/INFO, Arc Map – ORACLE. You will have experience designing and implementing solutions using current scripting language/techniques. You will have a solid understanding of relational database design. The successful candidate is required to become a Registered Forestry Professional in Alberta.
This position may be staffed at an Entry Level based on outstanding attributes and potential abilities.
• Forestry Education – Bachelor’s Degree – Forestry/Forest Engineer/Forest Technician Diploma
• Advanced skills with ESRI GIS products and relational databases.
• Programming experience
• Working knowledge of statistics and forest mensuration
• Excellent time management skills
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Asset: Education and experience in Remsoft spatial timber supply modeling
• Asset: GPS experience
