Stantec’s Calgary downtown (8th Avenue) office is seeking a GIS Specialist. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team which may consist of vegetation, soils, terrain, wildlife, GIS, planning and regulatory specialists. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Creating and maintaining spatial information in a variety of platforms in various GIS software packages. - Managing geomatics projects including scope and budget preparation. - Identification of data requirements. - Maintaining and creating data integrity and metadata. - Documentation of process and procedures. - Preparation of cartographic products.

Job Qualifications

- GIS degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary institution. - Minimum of 3 years of relevant GIS experience. - Proven skills using ERSI ArcGIS 9.x suite of products. - Understanding and proven experience operating in a variety of data environments. - Working knowledge of co-ordinate systems, projections and datum’s. - Ability to utilize scripting or programming languages including VB, VBA, Python, AML, Avenue. - Independent problem solving skills with the ability to work as part of a larger team.
