Job Description

This position will work on all Geomatics activities in accordance with all applicable codes, standards, and generally accepted engineering practices, including all of AMEC's and our client¡¦s policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control. Additional accountabilities for the Junior Geomatics Engineer include: „X Application of sound engineering practices for all Geomatics related activities in accordance with all applicable codes and standards. „X Solid background in GIS, CAD drafting, data management, project management, 2D/3D analysis and visualization. „X GPS/Conventional land surveying, data processing and analysis. „X Performing survey calculations, including network adjustments. „X Conducting surveys & inspections in the field; which may include remote locations. „X Execution of mapping projects and integration of different spatial data sources working with multidisciplinary teams. „X Development, implementation and use of relational databases and geodatabases. „X Data Management, spatial analysis, data integration and QA/QC of spatial data for engineering design. „X Working with GPS data, LiDAR data, conventional survey field notes, parcel mapping, Land Titles, ortho-rectified aerial/satellite imagery and the Alberta Township System. „X Image processing and spatial analysis for route selection. „X Producing prompt and accurate mapping services and products. „X Compiling survey data, field notes, photographs and maps into formal reports. „X QA/QC spatial data from various sources; including RTK/Static GPS, conventional surveys and LiDAR. „X Coordinate and supervise the drafting of various plans and maps based on spatial data from a variety of sources. „X Performing spatial analysis using GIS & CAD technology. „X Preparing data quality/management plans, standards and metadata. „X Assisting in the drafting of detailed work plans and hazard assessments for field operations. „X Performing any other Geomatics related activities as needed. „X Reporting to the Geomatics Field Manager and Project Engineer. „X Capable of handling multiple projects, working under pressure and ensuring adequate quality on products and services provided. „X Excellent communication skills and technical writing. „X Maintaining excellent working relations and meeting commitment made with project team members, clients and suppliers to support overall project quality, schedule and cost. „X Self-motivated individual who can adapt at working independently or as part of a team. Job Qualifications

Qualifications for the position include: „X Undergraduate Degree in Geomatics, Civil or related Engineering discipline. „X Minimum of 1 ¡V 2 years of relevant work experience „X Experience in transportation, construction and the energy industry an asset. „X Advanced knowledge in ESRI suite of products. Desktop and server environment an asset. „X Programming skills (Visual Basic, .NET, HTML, ASP) a definite asset. „X Experience with land development software (AutoCAD Land Desktop/Civil 3D, TerraModel, or Microstation) „X Proficiency in the Microsoft office platform a must.
