Job Description

The Sernas Group Inc. also provides consulting in land development, water resources engineering, geomorphic and associated environmental sciences, urban land use planning, transportation planning, traffic engineering, transit planning and operations, power, telecommunications and utility engineering.
We are currently seeking an applicant to fill a position as a Geomatics Technician in our Mississauga office. The incumbent, under the supervision of the Geomatics Specialist, will work on a wide range of projects which include providing support for spatial analyses, spatial data management, aerial photograph interpretation, and cartographic mapping projects. The Geomatics Technician will conduct complex analyses of spatial data from field data and digital databases, will quality control existing data, maps, and historical aerial photographs, and will also assist with issues related to spatial data and assume related tasks or projects, as assigned.
Job Qualifications
The successful incumbent has completed a post-secondary degree in Environmental Studies, Earth Sciences, or related discipline.
Additional skills should include:
• A minimum of two years relevant work experience is required
• Extensive experience with GIS; especially using ESRI ArcMap 9.3 and Manifold software
• Solid understanding of data management and familiar with RDMS
• Familiar with Microsoft Windows operating system, full Microsoft Office suite including MS Access and Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience writing reports and preparing presentations
• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and have a strong attention to detail
Other Information
The incumbent must be able to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines. Additional practical training/experience would be an asset.
