AECOM is currently recruiting for a GIS Specialist to support our existing activities and to grow our capacity to serve clients. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative nation-wide team focused on delivery of superior services to our clients.
Based out of our Markham office, the preferred candidate will possess a strong technical understanding of a variety of GIS software, analysis and reporting techniques. You will possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. A university degree, or a diploma from an accredited technical GIS program and 3 to 5 years of relevant, practical work experience is also required.
Experience with projects utilizing environmentally based data is preferred. Current experience managing geomatics requirements including; scope and budget management, identification of data requirements, and working in a team environment is desirable. The right candidate will know how to be proactive with client demands.
Technical skills required include:
•Hands on experience using the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products
•Data management abilities
•Excellent understanding of co-ordinate systems, projections and datums
•Creating and maintaining topologically correct data and database software (MS Access, SQL)
•Familiarity with scripting languages such as VBA, Python, Avenue or Modeller would be an asset
•The ideal candidates will be independent problem solvers, enjoy mentoring others and working in a team environment.
