It is the world’s most spectacular and unifying event, and in less than three years the eyes of the world will be focused on British Columbia and Canada as we celebrate the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We are currently looking for a:
Map Layout Specialist
The Map Layout Specialist will be responsible for the creation of cartographic products for both internal and external use. They will work with Brand and Creative Services to ensure the Games time Look and branding is integrated into all map products for publication. This is an evolving position and responsibilities may shift over time. Titles may be adjusted from time to time to accurately reflect responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Create maps for internal and external publication purposes
Develop and maintain a library of VANOC maps and additional graphics taken from existing graphic standards
Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure products meet their needs
Work with other functions within VANOC to collect data
Work in partnership with the Production Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate delivery of maps
Other duties may be assigned as required
Education/Experience:
· A degree or diploma from a recognized institution in Geographical Information System (GIS, a.k.a. Geomatics) or previous working experience in map production with ESRI ArcGIS Products, especially ArcMap 9.2 and graphic design software required.
· Experience working with the Geodatabase data model
· Experience working with Cartographic Representations
· Extensive experience with Adobe suite of design products (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc)
· Experience working with CAD required
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Proven ability to work as a part of a team
· Ability to work closely and cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders
· Excellent organization, time-management, administrative and computer skills
· Attention to detail and a strong customer service focus are essential
· Fluency in French an asset
· Proficient in Adobe products on MAC and PC
· Previous experience working in a fast-paced, multi-level, project based environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery an asset
