Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

§ Planning, setting budgets, and implementing GIS\Mapping projects.
§ Developing and tracking GIS-related budgets.
§ Monitoring performance against plans and establishing resolution actions for any variances from plans.
§ Coordinating GIS\Mapping activities with the Planning Department.
§ Developing standard GIS/Mapping policies and procedures.
§ Designing and implementing organization-wide GIS standards.
§ Obtaining and managing necessary GIS resources.
§ Recommending and, where appropriate, developing GIS and related training programmes.
§ Providing technical and project management support.
§ Negotiating and managing consulting and service contracts for GIS/Mapping projects.
§ Providing an interface between GIS\Mapping staff and consulting professionals working within Paramount Emergency Planners.
§ Coordinating and leading GIS initiatives with external organizations.
§ Managing GIS committees at technical and management level.
§ Preparing weekly project status reports.
§ Acting as liaison with GIS related external organizations.
§ Evaluating technological advances and promoting the usage of appropriate technology and application.

Job Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge

§ Bachelors degree in Geography/Cartography or related field with an emphasis in GIS.
§ Candidate must possess 5 years experience in GIS application, database design, and management.
§ Sound practical knowledge and experience of using ESRI suite of software, including ArcGIS-ArcView 9.2 (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox) and related extensions.
§ Good working knowledge of Global Positioning System (GPS), as well as a thorough working knowledge of GIS concepts/methods as it relates to emergency response planning in the Oil and Gas sector.
§ Programming experience using Python, VB, C++ or .NET is considered a plus.
