Telvent Petroleum GIS (TPG) Competency Center is a newly formed group

– primarily upstream and midstream oil and gas. Additionally,
TPG assists in contributing solutions to Telvent’s Enterprise
GIS Product Center (i.e., Telvent Miner & Miner).

Position
Summary & Major Responsibilities:
Telvent
Canada Ltd has a career opportunity in Calgary, Alberta office for a
motivated individual to join our team. Reporting to the Director of
Geomatics Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the
day-to-day operations of our geospatial gurus, liaise with clients,
manage projects, help architect solutions, undertake business
development, and work with management to sculpt direction. You have
been working in the GIS industry, and oil and gas forever. You have a
client list of your own and are well known. Your problem solving skills
are outstanding and your technical capability is renowned. People like
you and see you as a mentor.
You
are well-versed in the ESRI product line and have the vision to
identify current market requirements, including which technology will
provide the best return in the future. You are connected to the GIS
community and have a solid grasp of the direction of the Industry.
You
are open to suggestion and easy to work with. You enjoy working in a
team environment and are excited about contributing to solutions
development. Your relationships with clients and the Industry help keep
you wired to clients for design input.
You
understand Project Management principles and practices and believe
there is merit in a variety of approaches including waterfall and
agile. Project Management is not something you treat lightly; indeed,
you recognize it as one of the key factors for success.
Education
& Experience Preferred:
- Bachelor
of Science degree or technical diploma in GIS, Geography, Geomatics
Engineering, or Computer Science. Relevant job experience will also be
considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum
7 years direct GIS team management in the last 8 years.
- Exceptional
leadership and relationship skills.
- Exceptional
vision for GIS-based solutions.
- Understanding
of ArcObjects and ESRI-supported scripting languages.
- Significant
experience working with the energy industry (viz., oil and gas) and
understanding of upstream/midstream workflow.
- Significant
experience with ESRI’s 9.x ArcGIS product suite (Desktop,
Server, and Mobile).
- Ability
to work in a highly dynamic work environment with minimal direct
supervision.
- Experience
acting as a mentor and being mentored.
- PMP
certification or willingness to obtain.
Some
travel will be required. Start date is targeted for January 9, 2007.
