Job Description

ESRI Canada Limited has an immediate need for a senior level Technical Solutions Specialist in its Ottawa District office to support the region’s sales efforts. This position will report to the Ottawa District Manager and will work closely with the region’s sales team to support sales and revenue objectives.

Technical Solutions Specialist duties include:

Pre-sales activities are designed to lead to the sale of products and services offered by ESRI Canada. These are performed during sales calls, sales seminars, proposals, benchmarks, etc.

  • Team up with account managers to generate sales focusing on Enterprise level GIS solutions. Research, analyze, and monitor market factors and develop product/industry positioning, collateral generation, and strategies to maximize long-term market share.
  • Lead the development and delivery of effective demonstrations of ESRI Canada’s enterprise and 3rd-party solutions that address client needs and competitive situations.
  • Provide direction to customers regarding software solutions, professional services needs, business partner selection, and training requirements.
  • Advise customers on GIS requirements and strategies, architectures, product selection, and release planning.

Post-sales activities are designed to lead to continued and expanded use of products and services offered by ESRI Canada and generate additional sales, customer references, and enhancement of ESRI Canada's image as the preferred GIS solutions provider.

  • Team up with account managers to perform regular reviews of strategic accounts.
  • Act as a technical advisor to provide annual GIS strategy reviews for strategic accounts.
  • Perform fee-based installation and other post-sales services required by customers when required.
  • Prepare and deliver standard and customized ESRI training courses when required.

General Activities:

  • Provide technical sales support to the Sales Team through the ESRI Sales Process.
  • Act as a senior business analyst in the development of benchmarks, proposals, and other pre-sales activities.
  • Review the impact of new product releases and competition with the Sales Team.
  • Educate the Sales Team on ESRI Canada’s enterprise GIS product capabilities, and competitive products strengths and weakness.
  • Lead the assessment of new ESRI and 3rd-party products and features and "package" them into marketable solutions.
  • Manage trials of ESRI software and conduct successful technical audit meetings with customers for trial situations and prototypes.
  • Minimum 7 years technical experience working within the GIS industry.
  • Expert with ESRI GIS solutions in particular the development environment.
  • Extensive enterprise GIS implementation experience.
  • Experience in presenting all aspects of ESRI products to key decision makers at the executive level and explain it in non-technical terms to business people.
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout Ontario.
  • University Degree and/or Community College Diploma in related field of study.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
