Job Description
The Geospatial Research Facility for Terrestrial Ecosystems is accepting applications for a dynamic, enterprising professional to join its research team. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in all facets of innovative geospatial solutions development, using emerging data management and computing technologies, to support terrestrial ecosystem science and management.
DUTIES: As a team player in a dynamic research and production environment, the Visual Modeling Analyst will provide technical and professional expertise to all phases of computer-based visual modeling applied research and solutions development. Specific duties will involve the use of emerging technologies to build innovative software tools and visually rich 3-D information products such as: interactive maps, virtual landscapes and multimedia presentations using spatial data. Applies visual modeling tools to create and present realistic simulations of forested environments for use in: visual impact assessment, public consultation, and resource analysis and planning. Provides programming services to develop a visual graphic library to support tree and vegetation geometric modeling activities. Other duties will include active participation in knowledge transfer activities.
Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a seasoned programmer\analyst with a creative flare to building effective data presentation and information products using GIS data sets. Candidates must possess experience with ESRI-based GIS products and a thorough knowledge of computer-based 3-D visualization tools and techniques. Work experience in either: computer graphics programming\development in an Open environment; remote sensing\image analysis; or geometric modeling is desirable. These qualifications would normally be gained through a minimum of three years of progressive experience supplemented by a degree in computer or natural sciences or engineering. Other acceptable combinations of education, training and\or experience may be considered. Candidates must have strong problem-solving, communication, and team working skills. Experience in terrestrial ecosystem related disciplines would be an asset.

SALARY: CN-40 ($48,959 to $55,656 per annum).
