Job Description

General Accountability
Provides information, analysis and recommendations to facilitate effective category management and decision-making to increase profitability to suppliers while meeting the needs of our retail customers. Promotes a customer-focused culture in alignment with the company’s Core Values, Business Principles, and Climate Goals.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Provides accurate and timely financial, supply, costing, market, sales and packaging information to Category Directors and Managers.
  • Prepares financial forecasting, sales and inventory reports. Prepares both historical and future market and sales analysis.
  • Oversees the development of category plans. Integrates category plans with Key Account Plans.
  • Develops demand planning information – eg. volumes by week/size/pack style.
  • Develops transportation information for exports – determines the loading specifications of products and timeframes.
  • Interacts with suppliers to ensure good information flow and to continually build on our relationships with our suppliers.
  • Prepares benchmarking information – industry and import statistics.
  • Maintains costing models including packing at source and at market.
  • Management and reporting of sales to Asia.
  • Maintains sales ad tracking.
  • Provides backup to the Category Director as required.

Job Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in product data and category analysis, specifically in food or grocery products.
  • Post-secondary training in a related field.
  • Knowledge of category products and related services.
  • Ability to prepare complex financial, sales and costing analysis and reports.
  • Ability to disseminate and present complex information into a variety of ways to facilitate decision-making.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment
  • Strong research skills Interpretation – experience of making sense of a wide range of complex data, and creating actionable findings
  • Communication – strong ability to communicate action points to a wide audience. Strong report writing, presentation preparation and delivery, and verbal communication.

Technical skills:

  • Data extraction, cleaning and analysis from a wide variety of data systems.
  • Exposure to a range of software including or similar to Business Objects, Access, Excel, other data warehouse tools.
  • Advanced Excel Pivot Tables & MS Query, including using VBA to automate and add value to reports.
  • Experience with the following programs: VBA programming, MS Office suite.
  • Experience with Geographical Information Systems (MapInfo, ArcInfo etc.)
