There are currently seven (7) positions available.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

Geospatial Analyst, LiDAR & Imagery

GeoBC is responsible for the acquisition, creation, management and analysis of geospatial information to support the development of products and services which help the government better manage natural resources and communities in British Columbia. GeoBC is the largest centre of geospatial expertise in the provincial government and plays a leading role in the geospatial community across the government.

The Geospatial Analyst, LiDAR & Imagery conducts advanced spatial data analysis in support of the post-processing, production, quality assurance and quality control for LiDAR and digital imagery data of the Remote Sensing and Geomatics Engineering section with GeoBC. This position is responsible for conducting spatial data analysis and providing technical services to support land and resource data management, decision-making on resource planning, land management or other program issues.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Diploma or higher in resource management, geography, remote sensing, geographic information systems, or a related field. Preference may be given to a degree or higher.
  • Experience interpreting geospatial data, developing geospatial methodologies, performing custom geospatial data modeling, and/or conducting statistical analysis of geospatial information.
