Job Description
The Challenge
TELUS Geomatics is looking to expand its GIS operations team to meet the growing opportunities for Geographical Information Solutions within Canada. The successful candidate will be part of a team of GIS professionals charged with maintaining innovative custom AM/FM/GIS applications and related data sets for clients in the Government, Oil & Gas, Utilities and Commercial Business industries.
The ideal candidate will be a team player, committed to providing excellent customer service, able to meet short deadlines, be creative, self-motivated and can work with a minimum amount of supervision. Three to five years of GIS experience is a requirement.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an Intermediate Project Management position. Only those candidates with previous experience in GIS Project management and or related disciplines will be reviewed.
Job Qualifications
Experience & Education
§ Degree/ Diploma in Geography/Geomatics or a related discipline.
§ Post-Degree Diploma or Applied Degree in Geographic Information Systems.
§ Previous Project Management Experience
§ Previous experience using GIS / Mapping software (Microstation, MapInfo, ESRI, AutoDesk MapGuide, Intergraph technologies).
§ Previous training experience
Technical Requirements
§ Background in understanding and working knowledge of various GIS software packages.
§ Familiar with Spatial and non-spatial databases. (SDE, Oracle Spatial, SQL)
§ Ability to develop the planning and design specification of Geographic Information System projects.
§ Determination of customer requirements.
§ Promote, create and maintain practice of standards and processes relating to the delivery and maintenance of data.
§ Investigate and respond to customer requests for product and service requirements.
§ Proficient use of various Windows and Microsoft Office applications
§ Experience in Technical writing
