Geospatial Services Team Lead, GeoBC Atlas
$80,652.20 - $91,992.70 annually

The Geospatial Services Team Lead, GeoBC Atlas, leads the development and maintenance of base mapping datasets, products and services that support cross-government mandates. This position provides technical and strategic direction to ensure the creation, management and presentation of government geospatial data resources are continually improved, remain consistent with industry best practices, take advantage of emerging technologies and contribute to the reputation of GeoBC as a leader in geomatics. The position is critical to the design, modelling and oversight of GeoBC Atlas products, interagency partnerships and the services that deliver fundamental datasets and geospatial solutions for clients across government and the public. This position is responsible for an exciting portfolio that includes but is not limited to road centerlines (Digital Road Atlas – DRA), critical infrastructure and emergency management support.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in an appropriate applied science discipline (e.g. geomatics, geography, etc.) specializing in base mapping, surveying, geosciences, remote sensing, or other relevant field and a minimum of three years relevant experience* leading the development and management of complex spatial data sets; OR
  • A diploma in an appropriate discipline (e.g., geomatics, geography, geographic information systems, etc.) specializing in base mapping, surveying, geosciences, remote sensing or other relevant field and a minimum of five years relevant experience* leading and managing complex spatial data sets;

*Relevant experience may include:

  • Working with other agencies and stakeholders to develop foundational geospatial data strategies
  • Experience with geospatial data systems projects, such as spatial information systems development, image analysis, and remote sensing
  • Experience with diverse corporate spatial datasets (e.g., base mapping products, services and tools, including fresh water features, road centerlines, Digital Evaluation Models (DEM) and topology and conflation algorithms and tools).
