Team Lead, Remote Sensing Technology
$80,652.20 - $91,992.70 annually

As a branch geomatics business and data expert, the position is responsible for leading the identification and development of new methods to create, search, examine and analyze data sets with an emphasis on lidar and remotely sensed information.  The position also ensures the acquisition/measurement, storage, management and presentation of government geospatial data resources are continually improved, remain consistent with industry best practices and take advantage of emerging technologies.    

As the Team Lead, Remote Sensing Technology, you will oversee the Provincial LiDAR Program and be responsible for managing the operations and successful implementation of the LiDAR Program. You will be leading a dedicated team that will be developing specialized LiDAR data products, including Classified Point Clouds, Digital Elevation Models, Digital Surface Models, Canopy Height Models, Tree and Canopy Grid Metrics, and Individual Tree Databases. Drawing upon your geospatial project experience and knowledge, you will ensure the successful delivery of program goals. Supervising a team, you will deploy strong leadership and supervisory skills, ensuring the highest standards are met while fostering long-term client relationships across the public and private sectors. Your leadership style will inspire your team to deliver exceptional services while supporting their personal and professional growth. By sharing your expertise and knowledge, you will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within GeoBC.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma and three years’ experience in geomatics, resource management, geography, environmental science, computer science or related area; OR
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an appropriate discipline (e.g., geomatics, geography, computer science, etc.); OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;?
  • Experience managing projects and project teams producing geospatial products. Preference may be given to those who have 5 or more years of experience.
