About the Opportunity
Our thriving Edmonton office is looking to add an eager Geomatics Engineering Technologist to our local team. Our team of professional land surveyors, planners, engineers, and other specialists serve clients and communities across Alberta. This opportunity presents the successful candidate with a significant opportunity to help grow Urban Systems’ established Edmonton’s geomatics services.
As a Geomatics Technologist, you will be responsible for working alongside our team of professionals to serve our clients in central and northern Alberta. Some of your responsibilities will be:
Participate regularly and actively in all aspects of the health and safety program.
- Work locally and outside of the Edmonton region alone or as part of a two-person crew doing topographic, construction and legal surveys for private, municipal and Indigenous clients.
- Keep up-to-date, accurate, clear, and concise field notes.
- Operate various survey equipment and tools, including total station, GPS, UAV, Laser Scanner, etc. Experience with Leica equipment is considered an asset.
- Maintain survey equipment and trucks.
- Process and check field data.
- Draft and check survey plans and other documents for both internal and external clients.
- Develop and foster relationships with clients.

Job Qualifications
About You
Our preferred candidate is a graduate of a Geomatics Engineering Technology diploma or degree program, and possesses the following skills, strengths, and interests:
- A keen interest in opportunities to challenge yourself, broaden the scope of your work and take on more responsibility over time.
- Ability to nurture positive interpersonal relationships with people from varying backgrounds, including project team members and clients.
- Detail oriented.
- Enjoy physical work.
- Able to travel out of town, sometimes for multiple days in a row.
- A passion for working outdoors in urban and rural settings.
- Ability to work alone and as a member of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license.
