Job Description

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Field Work:
    • Performing aerial LiDAR surveys
    • Working with partner helicopter operators across Canada
    • Operating RME’s Renegade UAV system
    • Extensive travel within Canada for time periods ranging from 2 – 14 days
    • Coordinating with clients for field surveys
    • Planning and collecting ground control points for surveys using Leica systems
    • Planning and operation of Leica static base stations
    • Operating mobile LiDAR scanning equipment
  • Data Management:
    • Preliminary data processing of ground control points, GPS/IMU data using Leica and Novatel Inertial Explorer software
    • Managing quality control of data through execution of Standard Operating Procedures, field checks and documentation, as well as compiling QC reports of finalized datasets.
    • Processing of LiDAR and imagery
  • Crew Coordination:
    • Leading Calgary office for western Canada projects
    • Managing office/crew activities through the direction of the Project Coordinator and Production Coordinator (based in Ottawa)
    • Planning projects: ground control, travel, flight lines for aerial surveys based on client requirements of resolution, accuracy, aircraft performance, etc. for optimal LiDAR data quality
    • Managing and staying current on software training and upgrades
    • Managing equipment uptime, maintenance
    • Setup of data collection sensors to meet project requirements and highest quality
    • Coordinating shipping and travel to survey sites across Canada
    • Managing co-op student during summer months

Job Qualifications

Job Requirements and Qualifications Include:

 

  • Proven track record as a self-directed, motivated self-starter
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the surveying industry with significant time in the field, especially within Canada
  • Proficiency in the following software platforms: GIS software including Global Mapper, Leica GIS systems, Novatel’s Inertial Explorer
  • Experience with LiDAR and aerial imagery collection from manned-aircraft
  • Experience with TerraSolid, RiProcess or competitive LiDAR processing suites
  • Experience running a field crew and/or project management
  • ATV experience for off-road use.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate personnel in high stress and changing environmental conditions
  • Experience with radio controlled vehicles is an asset
  • Must be located in or around Calgary
