PROJECT MANAGER, UNDERWATER SERVICES
ASI Group LTD., founded in 1987 as Aquatic Sciences Inc., is a full-service engineering and marine technology company comprised of two groups; ASI Marine which offers a full range of underwater inspection, mapping and light construction services and ASI Water which has extensive experience in design, build and operation of drinking water and wastewater systems.
ASI Marine, with offices in St. Catharines, ON and Orchard Park, NY has an immediate opening for a Project Manager experienced with lakebed, riverbed and seafloor data collection and mapping using state-of-the-art remote sensing instrumentation for engineering and environmental applications and/or experience in underwater inspections using a variety of remote inspections technologies. Work will include a mix of field and office assignments in domestic and foreign markets. Moderate to extensive travel is required, including domestic and international, for periods of one day to several weeks. Candidates given the strongest consideration will have a blend of project management experience and technical field experience.
Knowledge and Skill Required
- Demonstrated project management skills including the management of client needs, project scope, budget, resources, staff and the ability to provide deliverables within agreed upon timelines
- Skilled in preparing accurate and effective proposals and reports
- Technical writing; including the development of statements of qualifications, bid proposals, and detailed written inspection/survey reports.
- Hydrographer Certification (SCSM or equivalent) considered an asset
- Marine Operations Safety Training (MEDA3 or equivalent)
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (Class G minimum)
- Holds a valid passport for international travel
- Flexibility to travel as required and able to obtain foreign work permits
- Comprehensive knowledge of sonar equipment including data acquisition and post-processing, underwater video systems, and marine geophysical and hydrographic surveying equipment
- Sound knowledge of single-beam & multi-beam echo-sounders, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profilers, scanning sonars, magnetometers, water level gauges, DGPS systems, and interfacing navigation and data collection software
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, AutoCad, Hypack/HySweep, Microstation and GIS
- Outstanding customer service skills and able to work in a team setting
Job Qualifications
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in an engineering discipline (civil, structural, electrical or mechanical and/or geomatics (Hydrographic, marine geophysical etc.) or Certified Technician (C.Tech.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.)
- Experience trailering and operating small survey boats (up to 25 feet in length). Boat Operator Certificate considered an asset.
- Minimum of five years’ full-time experience in marine high-resolution data acquisition including hydrographic surveys and other marine geophysical surveys
- Demonstrated experience preparing detailed proposals and technical reports, estimating costs and managing project budgets
- PMP certificate or equivalent considered an asset
- Knowledge and experience with underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROV’s) would be beneficial
