What you’ll be doing…
You will provide academic and administrative leadership to the School of Trades & Technology and School of Applied Arts & New Media programs offered at the Annapolis Valley Campus, including the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS), an International geomatics training centre of the Nova Scotia Community College, offering training at the post-secondary and post-graduate levels. As a key member of the provincial School of Trades & Technology and School of Applied Arts & New Media Leadership Teams, you will provide strategic vision for growth and innovation in the development of programs.
As a member of the Valley Region Management Team, you will provide academic leadership in program development, delivery, and quality assurance and contribute to the effective management of physical, financial and human resources.
You will develop and maintain a network of strategic internal and external relationships with relevant local and provincial industry and educational partners in order to support and expand programs and increase student enrolment. As well, you will establish and maintain national and international contacts in industry, with educators, and with professional associations.
The current portfolio includes approximately 30 direct staff reports, approximately 250 students (full-time & part-time) and programming including, but not limited to: Applied Arts, Energy Sustainability, Geomatics, Information Technology, and Plumbing.

You have:
Minimum qualifications:

Undergraduate university degree in the field of technology, engineering or sciences.

A graduate degree is desirable.
Minimum experience:
-
Minimum of five years of recent progressive occupational experience, and a minimum of five years’ experience in a management role.

Your experience in the field includes leadership/management in adult education and teaching at a post-secondary level.
Minimum skills and ability:
-
Thorough knowledge of adult learning theory and principles and a proven ability to apply this knowledge in the development and delivery of programs.

You understand the importance of applied learning in a modern framework where research and program curriculum co-exist and support each other.

As the manager of technology programs, you recognize the evolution of technology and how it will impact program currency and relevancy.

Change is fundamental to your work, as you continually adapt to developments in your portfolio of programs.

You bring a proven track record of effective leadership and management, supporting your staff in maintaining acceptable standards of training and instruction within technical fields.

You have experience effectively managing physical and financial resources in order to ensure effective service delivery.

Your proven ability to quickly establish effective and credible relationships, both internally and externally, is also essential in the role.
