Job Description:

Our company has a job opening for a talented and innovative GIS Technician with an interest and passion for GIS technologies and the natural resources industry. Reporting to the GIS Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with mapping requests, spatial analysis, and understanding how to effectively apply GIS technology in the environmental, land reclamation, and oil & gas fields.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Proficiency using ESRI ArcGIS 10.x, QGIS, AutoCad Software, and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access

  • Experience with ESRI extensions, and Python scripting is an asset.

  • Understanding of File GDB and relational databases including MS Access and SQL Server.

  • Performing data analysis and management, including creating and performing topology.

  • Producing finished cartographic and tabular products for reporting. 

  • Provide GIS support to Field staff, including a working knowledge of Trimble GPS Units, and ArcPad.

  • Assist with field work through-out western Canada on occasion. 

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • College or University diploma or degree, majoring in GIS or equivalent

  • 1-3 years of experience in the GIS and Natural Resources Industry.

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

Skills required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an affinity for working with others within and outside the organization

  • Results oriented and efficient, with excellent problem solving skills

 

 

Other Information

Pay scale: Commensurate with experience
