McElhanney Associates Land Surveying Ltd. seeks a commissioned Land Surveyor to join us in either our Vancouver Survey branch or one of our Northern BC branches. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work on large-scale projects throughout Western Canada and internationally, working with and leading a diverse team of survey staff. At McElhanney, you’re working alongside some of the very best in the industry.
Our surveyors take part in a variety of projects in various communities. The Vancouver Survey branch specifically partakes in many major, high-profile survey projects in a variety of challenging settings. Recent projects include the Northwest Transmission Line, Sea-To-Sky Highway, Canada Line, many VANOC venues for the 2010 Olympics, Mina De Cobre Panama and the Americas Potash project in Peru. Current and upcoming projects include several mines in Canada and internationally, Interior-Lower-Mainland Transmission Line, Evergreen Line, amongst other major projects. JOB DUTIES

Leading survey crews on projects; communicating scope and scheduling information to team members, setting expectations and ensuring timeliness of project tasks.

Travelling when required to other Branch or Field Office locations

Liaising with Project Managers and clients; preparing accurate field notes and drawings, managing information flow from field to final deliverables

Providing mentorship, guidance, and training to assist with employee professional development

Implementing and ensuring quality assurance on all field returns
Job Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
-
Must hold current Canadian license as a professional Land Surveyor (BCLS is preferred)

5-10 years’ progressive experience as a land surveyor

Demonstrated experience in Project Management and Business Development

Ability to lead, develop and motivate a team of survey staff and work well in a team environment – prior supervisory experience is a strong asset

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
-
Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and budget
