Job Description

Does your advanced skill set include Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and other business applications used in the utility industry? Are you keen on implementing and supporting solutions to address business needs? Are you interested in working in a challenging, progressive, and changing business environment? 


The candidate will be involved in the maintenance and support of the Corporation’s Environmental and Electrical Network GIS systems which includes the development and servicing of applications and tools. This position includes interfacing with and providing support to end users making use of both GIS software solutions and its custom applications. The candidate will be asked to enhance existing applications and the integration of data that will interact with the GIS and mobile GIS systems.


This position will require the candidate to collaborate with many departments within SaskPower and to promote business improvements in GIS. Your expertise and technology background will be used to set and maintain standards for the business use of GIS. This role engages in both operational and project work. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping current with related technology and utility industry trends. SaskPower utilizes both the GE Smallworld Electric Office system to model its transmission and distribution networks and the Esri ArcGIS Platform to model the environmental system..


Successful applicants will be motivated, self-directed employees that will work in a collaborative professional environment. Individuals will have a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Geography, Engineering, or other related equivalent. All candidates require several years of experience in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) with a strong business understanding of information and/or operational technology.

SaskPower offers a salary range of $70,000 to $137,025 for this position, based on education and experience.
