Job Description
The Project Developer Manager position located in Toronto, Canada is responsible for the development of wind-powered generation projects from the project identification stage through financial closing and start of construction.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Is responsible for state, federal, and regional permitting of wind farms
- Oversees the preparation of proposals that are submitted to utilities
- Obtains land surface rights to design, permit, construct, operate, and maintain wind power projects
- Identifies prospective projects with suitable wind resource, electric transmission access, and site characteristics
- Establishes and manages relationships with stakeholders, including elected officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and community leaders, to support project development
- Monitors Generation Interconnection studies performed by transmission providers and third parties
- Manages the environmental study and permitting process
- Supports the financial analysis and modeling of the project
- Participates in interconnection agreement negotiations
- Works with internal resources, such as the Legal, Engineering, and Energy Assessment teams
- Provides reports to management by producing regular and frequent pipeline updates, project status updates, and other reporting documents
- Researches energy market and competition on an ongoing basis
- Communicates information continuously and effectively to cross-functional team
- Additional duties as required
Job Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 2 – 5 years of progressively responsible project management experience in the energy industry
REQUIRED LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software; some knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Spatial Analyst software preferred
