Grid 24 - $65,902.33 - $75,302.97*
* Posted salary includes a JFMM Allowance of 10% & a Location Allowance of 3%
Applications & Operations - Resource Stewardship and Major Projects
This position effectively integrates and analyzes resource/environmental information from a wide variety of sources to provide staff with the information needed for their decision-making processes. The GIS Analyst recommends and develops analysis tools to support broader frameworks for application reviews. This position provides a vital interface between data users and information technology with respect to spatial mapping and data integrity. The incumbent interprets, manipulates and adapts raw data, reformats the information and conducts sorting, analysis and other data manipulation in response to industry, client and employee requests.
This position maintains and recommends continual improvement strategies for all standards and policies to GIS analysis and mapping. This requires comprehensive knowledge of GIS software and hardware, the ability to develop speciality one-of-a-kind products for industry and Commission clients, the ability to interpret sophisticated scientific and technical information to non-technical staff; and the skills to merge geological information from historic manual records, maps and modern GIS data.

Preference will be given to qualified applicants who demonstrate experience:

Working in a resource management related field in a capacity where the applicant is exposed to a wide variety of experience in energy and mineral resources and information;

Experience capturing, converting, creating, editing and maintaining digital information in a GIS environment;

Experience in the development and maintenance of data management policies, procedures, systems and standards;
-
Experience with database management tools and applications (MS Access, Oracle, etc.);
-
Experience producing quality cartographic maps;
-
Experience creating and carrying out presentations and training sessions.
