Description
Reporting to the GIS Team Lead, this GIS Application Specialist role will require a candidate with a high level of GIS applications and data management expertise and experience along with considerable data and database knowledge in oil and gas. You will work closely with GIS users, the Petrotechnical Applications group and various IT Demand groups.
Responsibilities
- Define and build our GIS data management processes using FME and other ETL/Integration technology
- Manage and maintain a file-based spatial data repository and a global spatial data replication processes
- Generate new GIS workflow documentation and provide solutions to workflow problems
- Provide GIS/Geomatics expertise to various Talisman project and infrastructure groups
- Provide ArcGIS technical support and formal training to all GIS users
- Populate and optimize spatial data stored in Image Server and SDE
Job Qualifications
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in a GIS related discipline
- 5+ years GIS experience
- Certified FME Professional (preferred)
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of GIS applications (ESRI, FME)
- Expert knowledge of enterprise databases/servers (Oracle, SQL Server)
- Understanding of common spatial data structures, formats and terminology
- Strong understanding of coordinate systems and geodesy
- Demonstrate an understanding of the oil and gas industry
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Able to work both independently and within in a team
- Proven organizational and time management skills
Technical Qualifications
- Enterprise GIS standards creation, implementation, and governance
- Spatial data management (ArcSDE, Web, File-based, FME Desktop, FME Server)
- GIS application integration (PPDM, IHS, Petrel, Geographix, etc.)
- GIS workflow development and documentation
- Programming - Python, SQL, HTML, ArcObjects
- Linux Operating Systems and various shell scripting
