Position Overview:
Aecon is currently seeking a CAD Drafter/ Calculator to join the Aecon Survey Team. The Drafter will be responsible for providing laying out information to all aspects of the construction project with a high level of accuracy, ensuring the design criteria is adhered to and well documented.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide calculations to field staff
  • Prepare 3D models for use in GPS and Machine Control applications
  • Prepare engineering and survey plans
  • Maintain accurate survey records, documentation and submittals
  • Provide layout information at various stages of construction
  • Calculate volumes using various software and methods
  • Maintain survey equipment inventory
  • Provide clear communication with client in a professional manner
  • Maintain as-built records
  • Provides back-up support for other Surveying staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Post-secondary education in Geomatics or design field
  • Knowledge of survey practices and standards
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Drafting or calculator roll
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft office, Autocad, Civil 3D or Microstation software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and CAD drawings
