Job Description
This position effectively integrates and analyzes resource/environmental information from a wide variety of sources to provide the Director of Resource Development and other staff with the information needed for their decision-making processes. The role undertakes and documents the Commission’s Area-based analysis and other analyses which are used in determining the short- and long-term implications of various combinations of environmental influences and land base alternatives. The position provides expert advice to the Director of Resource Development, other OGC staff, the oil and gas industry, First Nations, and the public on the interpretation and use of analysis results as well as uncertainties and implications of Area-based analysis results.
Working within the Resource Development team, the Resource Development Analyst recommends and develops analysis tools to support broader frameworks for Stewardship staff. This position provides a vital interface between data users and information technology with respect to spatial mapping and data integrity. The incumbent interprets, manipulates and adapts raw data, reformats the information and conducts sorting, analysis and other data manipulation in response to industry, client and employee requests.
Job Qualifications
Consideration will be given to those with:
- Graduation with a degree in Forestry, Geology, or allied field from a recognized university, preferably with a post-graduate degree with specialization in quantitative methods, resource economics or Geographic Information Systems.
- Five to seven years of subsequent experience with undergraduate degree, three to five years with post-graduate degree, in the use and/or development of resource analysis systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Different combinations of education and experience would be considered.
Preference will be given to qualified applicants who demonstrate experience:
- Preference is for working experience in the oil and gas sector or in a resource management related field in a capacity where the applicant is exposed to a wide variety of experience in energy and mineral resources and information.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to build and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships and effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to organize, manage, and complete a number of concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and make accurate forecasts or judgments based on results.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to develop, explain, and present findings, reports and summaries of results both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise style that is appropriate to the audience.
