Job Description

Reporting to the GIS Manager, the Visual Simulations Specialist will be tasked with leading CanACRE's visual simulation team at CanACRE's downtown Toronto office. The successful candidate will be creating professional looking and accurate depictions of wind turbines, telecommunications towers, oil and gas operations, mining operations, and other built features within photographs, or within 3D landscapes. The Visual Simulations Specialist will also implement quality assurance, and quality control procedures, as well as attend conferences and meetings to present to existing and potential clients.

Job Qualifications

  • University or College education or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience with Civil Engineering, Drafting, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Experience in building spatially accurate 3D models
  • Candidate must be able to accurately place 3D representations of built objects into photographs
  • Working knowledge of GIS
  • Familiarity with Google Sketch up and/or other 3D modeling software such as CityEngine, AutoDesk Civil 3D or 3D Studio Max (3Ds Max)
  • Familiarity with Visual Nature Studio (VNS) preferred
  • Interest in renewable energy, telecommunications, oil and gas, or mining
  • Must be able to work independently, and as a part of a team in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Experience with a GPS, compass or other survey equipment is preferred
  • Familiarity with good photographic composition techniques
  • Solid team player capable of driving for results, and meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to build relationships, both internally and externally
  • Valid drivers license
  • Able to make occasional site visits
