Job Description
Technologist, Drafting is accountable for performing computer-aided design and drafting functions related to Distribution projects. This includes recording, updating and maintaining asset information in GIS. This role is also accountable for the preparation of drawings, including construction drawings, schematics, profiles, site plans, circuit layouts, cadastral plans and single or three-phase diagrams, as well as interpreting survey data and as-built information for record maintenance with time spans (longest target completion time) of up to 3 months.
Technologist, Drafting is accountable to Manager, GIS, and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by Manager, GIS.

Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Two-year Technology diploma in Engineering, Design and Drafting from a recognized technical institute or post-secondary educational equivalent.
- Eligible for registration as a Technologist with A.S.E.T.
- 4-6 years of progressively responsible directly related experience
- Experience in drafting and computer aided drafting and/or GIS software such as, AutoCAD, Microstation, Electric Office and Smallworld GIS.
- Experience in MS Office software (Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Knowledge with Database query.
- Clearance on a Background security check and professional reference checks is required.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. A copy of a valid work permit may be required.
In order to be fully successful in the Technologist, Drafting role you continually seek opportunities to enhance drafting and recording process for power distribution and transmission infrastructure and are completely engaged in technical work, looking for methods to improve existing and/or introduce new standards to refine drafting and recording of power infrastructure. The successful candidate must have a strong command of the English language and possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. In addition to the aforementioned skills you possess superior attention to detail that ensures the accurate recording and drafting of infrastructure and will be able to work effectively and co-operatively with others in a team environment.
