Job Description
WFP is seeking a highly-motivated, innovative thnker with an aptitude for data manipulation and analysis, demonstrated skills in geographic information system operation, and the ability to work both independently and in a leadership role. This position will support strategic forest analysis and corporate data management with a focus on automation of repetitive tasks. Familiarity with LiDAR and other remote sensing technologies would be an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Geospatial Analysis: capture and edit spatial features; convert data into formats appropriate for analysis being performed; undertake advanced geoprocessing, analysis and reporting tasks; prepare resultant overlays for strategic planning and reporting.
- Corporate Dataset Management: prepare and implement quality checks for updating corporate data with ArcSDE environment; acquire external information as required; incorporate LiDAR and other remote sensing products into datasets and analyse; develop routines, standards, procedures and templates for geomatics personnel.
- Mapping: produce and maintain map templates for tactical and strategic planning initiatives.
Job Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge in use of full suite of ESRI ArcGIS products
- Skilled in maintaining and updating a Corporate GIS database, conducting spatial data conversions and working with imagery data and large volues of digital files
- Working knowledge of scripting and programming in Python
- Ability to perform advanced SQL queries against Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Familiarity with Cengea Resources, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), Crystal Reports, LP360, Summit Evolution, Java and Visual Basic are beneficial.
- Awareness of statistical analysis, timber/habitat supply modeling, or forest growth modeling would be definite assets.
