Job Opportunity
This one year temporary full-time position involves working with a team of GIS Analysts who are accountable for maintaining and distributing GIS data for allStrathconaCountysystems. The successful candidate will help improve the efficiency and accessibility to the County’s Geospatial data and the processes that support this. In addition to providing GIS technology services and support to County departments, staff, citizens and businesses, this position is also responsible for providing leadership and guidance in an effort to increase GIS fluency and the use of geospatial technology within the organization.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, development, implementation, maintenance and program evaluation of the County’s corporate geospatial data and application programs.
- Implement geospatial application and data projects through working with various stakeholders to translate business requirements, system and application testing and documentation.
- Ensure County department users are well supported and productive in their use ofCountyGeospatialtechnology.
- Identify new services or service improvements that better respond to the evolving needs of the business.
- Support the mission of the GIS team by providing leadership and maintaining high level technical knowledge.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A university degree in GIS or Geography or Computer Science; or a related two-year diploma in GIS with a minimum of five years of related GIS experience.
- Proficiency with ESRI GIS Suite of tools including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcSDE and ArcGIS Server; ESRI Geodatabase data format, ArcGIS data models, FME, MS SQL Server, MS Office Productivity tools, MS Project, MS Visio.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of GIS, spatial analysis and cartography.
- Experience with client-server GIS technologies including ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Flex, or Silverlight & Web GIS / Web Mapping (ie: MapOptix or Geocortex Essentials) platforms is desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
- Business analysis and project management training or experience, GISP Certification or ESRI Certification are assets.
The salary range for this position is $64,574 to $80,717, working 35 hours per week.
