Job Description

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent requires a temporary full-time Coordinator, Utilities GIS (PUC) with Information & Technology Services.  This position would start approximately the first of February, 2013, is for a period up to 21 months. Overall Responsibilities: (please see responsibilities & competencies document on our website for full responsibilities)

  • Developing, maintaining and administering the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission (CK PUC) database, including ensuring data accuracy, quality and integrity in the GIS system through scheduled data improvement exercises

Job Qualifications

Qualifications: (please see responsibilities & competencies document on our website for full qualifications)

  • College diploma or university degree (preferably in a Geographic Information Systems, Engineering or Computer Science program), with four to six years of related experience; or an equivalent of related education and experience
  • Four to six years related experience and knowledge of water and wastewater utility operations
  • Three years of experience with GIS database management, design and implementation
  • Experience with ArcGIS and ArcFM applications development
  • Knowledge of GIS tools and methodologies for administration of a shared corporate GIS database
  • Knowledge of spatial referencing systems including Datums and Projections
  • Knowledge of spatial data acquisition systems including the use of Global Positioning Systems, Photogrammetry Systems, surveying and digitizing tools
  • All new employees will be required to complete their Health & Safety and other on-line mandatory training before their first day of employment; other training (including Health & Safety policies) may be required upon the start of employment 

Driver’s license:

  • Because of the responsibilities, this position requires the successful candidate to have a valid (class G) Ontario driver’s licence; a driver’s abstract will be conducted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent 

Police information search:

  • Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment 

Compensation:

This temporary full-time position has an hourly wage rate of $36.04 to $40.76 (2012 rates based on grade 9 of the 2012 non-union full-time compensation plan), plus 15% in lieu of benefits (which includes health & dental benefits, statutory & non-statutory holidays, and non-enrolment in OMERS) and 4% vacation pay.
