We are currently looking for a GIS Technician / Analyst - Intermediate for our Burnaby, BC office. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 As a GIS Analyst with AMEC E&I, you will be involved in a variety of exciting projects.  Your work will be primarily for the Natural Resources group but you will also provide support to the Materials, Geotechnical, Archaeology, and Contaminants groups.  Duties will include:

  • Data loading and preparation;
  • Data analysis and modelling;
  • Generation of mapping products;
  • Database design, maintenance & reporting;
  • GIS documentation and reporting; and
  • Improve current processes and contribute to the continued growth of GIS services within AMEC, particularly in the areas of Database and Remote Sensing, web mapping and programming.

This is a full-time position.  Overtime, including evenings and weekends, on short notice, is often required.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree or equivalent technical diploma and experience in a related discipline;
  • 3+ years experience in GIS and database technologies;
  • Experience with the following programs is a minimum requirement:  ArcGIS (including Spatial Analyst extension), AutoCAD, MS Access, Excel;
  • Experience with the following programs would be a benefit: AutoCAD Map, CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Python, open source web mapping (e.g., ARC Server), PostGIS, SQL, GeoServer;
  • Ability to work under pressure, and prioritize tasks in a high volume, multiple project environment;
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, strong problem solving skills; and
  • Experience in the following industry areas would be an asset:  Environmental, Mining, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Transportation, Engineering.
