Our Engineering & Maintenance Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team as a Dredging Technician to provide a variety of services related to planning and implementation of Fraser River dredging. More specifically, in this role you will:
- Collect, input and keep records of hydrographic survey data. Prepare, update, reconcile and file related CAD and GIS plans. Carry out related dredging volume calculations in support of dredging planning by the Dredging Specialist.
- Modify data files received from others to meet PMV digital storage requirements and ensure that as-built dredging data are received and recorded. Maintain the Corporate Plan Registry and keep the electronic index files up-to-date.
- Assist the Dredging Specialist in making dredging-related information available to internal and external customers.
- Carry out research related to historical records.
- Assist with the organization and maintenance of electronic and hard copy drawings and records related to Port infrastructure as required.
- Assist with site surveys and measurements as required.
Job Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you have a technical diploma from a recognized institution, along with a minimum of 2 years of civil engineering related drafting, AutoCAD Map (including LDD or Civil 3D) and dredging or earthworks volume calculations. You are proficient with computers, especially the Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software would be an asset. Your exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, your strong orientation to customer service and your ability to work independently to achieve results set you apart from the rest.
Other Information
The salary for this term position starts at $65,240 plus a competitive benefits package, including an Earned Time Off program.
