Job Description

EPCOR’s Application Services group is looking to fill two full-time permanent Systems Analyst positions.

2 positions available: 1 Metering and Billing Systems Analyst; 1 GIS Systems Analyst

The accountabilities of the Systems Analyst, will include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Estimating, designing, and developing solutions to meet or exceed customer or project requirements and enhancement delivery targets.
  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics:
    • Incident Delivery and Responsiveness
    • Delivery on Change Request estimations
    • Customer Satisfaction Surveys
    • System Availability
    • Knowledge Management
  • Assisting with the completion of Transition to Operations reviews and checklists.
  • Ensuring system reliability and availability through proactive system monitoring and maintenance and change management.
  • Employing open communication and problem solving skills to resolve customer issues and incidents efficiently and effectively within expected timeframes.
  • Participating in Major Capital Projects as required by the manager.
  • Abiding by all Application Services departmental policies and processes for the purpose of consistent support and administrative practices throughout Application Services.
  • Reacting to system availability issues with the required urgency and overseeing root cause analysis on issues as a way of proactively preventing them in the future.
  • Providing valuable contributions to documentation and knowledgebase to allow for the long-term sustainability of EPCOR IS.
  • Collaborating with other members of Application Services to create and maintain dependable, efficient and high quality application solutions.
  • Executing daily job duties with a focus on continuous improvement of processes and systems.
  • Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

 

  • A diploma in Computer Systems Technology or Computer Engineering Technology or Management Information Systems from a recognized technical institute, or a related University degree in Computing Science or Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of directly related experience
  • Technical knowledge/skills required for a Metering and Billing Systems Analyst:
    • Understanding of Webservices concepts
    • Oracle Forms and Reports
    • Oracle Discoverer
    • VSS
    • Ant
    • iFlowI
    • XML
    • SQL Tuning
  • Technical knowledge/skills required for a GIS Systems Analyst:
    • Oracle Spatial
    • Understanding of GIS concepts
    • Systems Delivery Lifecycle with focus on custom development
    • Microstation
    • Smallworld
    • Mapinfo
    • Oracle ODI
    • .Net
  • Technical knowledge/skills required for both a Metering and Billing & GIS Systems Analyst:
    • Oracle PL/SQL
    • Java
    • Scripting languages
  • Experience with System Delivery Life Cycle using one or more common programming languages.
  • Experience gathering business requirements from the business users.
  • Demonstrated capability to design, develop and unit test IS solutions using one or more common programming languages.
  • Ability to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues when faced with application availability situations.
  • Well-developed technical proficiency in the current technology stack and an excellent understanding of business process and business requirements for applications.
  • Software development related certifications such as Microsoft or Oracle Developer certifications would be an asset.
