Job Description

Paragon Soil is a land resource consulting company that specializes in soils as they relate to reclamation, agriculture, forestry, remediation, productivity, and resource use and development. Our team has participated in projects throughout Canada and around the globe, and is dedicated to providing quality service, safely and effectively.  We are currently seeking a talented and innovative GIS Technician with an interest and passion for GIS technologies and the natural resources industry. 

Job Qualifications

The Successful candidate will have a College or University diploma/degree majoring in GIS or equivalent, combined with a minimum of 1-3 years experience in the GIS and Natural Resources Industry. The individual will report to the GIS Manager and will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Proficiency using the following products:
    • ESRI ArcGIS 9.x and 10.x
    • AutoCad Software
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Adobe Products
  • Experience with ESRI extensions, and Python scripting is an asset.
  • Understanding of File GDB and relational databases including MS Access and SQL Server.
  • Performing data analysis and management, including creating and performing topology and metadata practices.
  • Producing finished cartographic and tabular products for reporting. 
  • Provide GIS support to Field staff, including a working knowledge of Trimble GPS Units, and ArcPad.
  • Knowledge in remote sensing and modelling is an asset.
  • Assist with field work through-out western Canada on occasion.
