Job Description

Geomatics Plan Technician

Bring your Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills, experience and survey expertise and be part of a progressive and professional team supporting the design and construction of Ontario's highways!
 
In this challenging and technically diverse role, you will:


•    generate and assess legal and engineering survey products using CAD techniques and GIS tools
•    use GIS to assist in data management, manipulation and analysis to prepare business theme layers and thematic maps
•    research, produce and maintain engineering and title records
•    assist ministry staff by providing technical guidance and support

Location: 615 South James Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario

What we are looking for: 

Legal and Engineering Survey Related Knowledge and Experience:
•    you have demonstrated knowledge of legal and engineering survey plans and plan preparation
•    you have knowledge of relevant legislation such as Registry Act, Surveys Act, Land Titles Act and Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act
•    you have demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, practices and procedures including digital terrain modelling and alignments
•    you have demonstrated knowledge of coordinate geometry, control surveys and least squares adjustments
•    you have knowledge of land registry records and practices


GIS Knowledge:
•    you have demonstrated knowledge of GIS and standard computer software such as ArcGIS and extensions and AutoCAD, to produce GIS themes, maps and spatial databases
•    you have the knowledge and ability to interpret, analyze, manipulate and portray spatial data


Other Essential Skills:
•    you have well developed interpersonal and communication skills
•    you have excellent analytical and research skills and can adapt to technological changes
•    you have effective organizational skills to coordinate and organize work activities on multiple projects with varying levels of complexity

Salary range:  $1,039.73 – $1,211.72 per week
