Focus Corporation is a multi-discipline engineering, geomatics and planning consulting firm with offices in major centers throughout Western Canada.  We are currently seeking a GIS/Mapping Technician to join our Calgary team.

Reporting to the GIS Manager you will:

  • Develop mapping products, build and maintain corporate and client databases, GIS data creation and manipulation;
  • Process and analyze remote sensing data, including LiDAR and aerial/satellite imagery.

Job Qualifications

As the successful candidate you:

  • Have at least 2 years of related experience;
    Have post secondary education from a recognized university; or a college diploma/training program with relevant experience;
  • Have experience with spatial data structures, in particular ESRI data structures, including geodatabases;
  • Have a solid understanding of cartographic design, map projections, horizontal and vertical datums, and complementary technologies such as remote sensing and GPS;
  • Will have proficiency in ESRI GIS products, including ArcGIS (9.x) and ArcSDE; in addition to ArcGIS extensions, including 3D Analyst/ArcGlobe and Spatial Analyst;
  • Are able to employ analytical skills when approaching technical situations requiring problem solving in a fast paced time-sensitive environment;
  • Are able to establish goals and deadlines and meet them successfully;
  • Are able to work well within a team environment as well as on an individual basis;
  • Have proven verbal and written communication skills;
  • Will maintain quality of work with attention to detail and accuracy.
