Job Description
|
|
Dynamic Risk is seeking an entry level GIS Analyst with one or more years of relevant work experience in addition to a GIS degree or diploma from a recognized university or technical school. We are in search of a talented and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in the data that creates the foundation of a GIS to join our team and advance their career. Duties:
- Interface with our Engineering group, Software group, and Project Managers to develop and implement customized GIS solutions
- Use of ESRI ArcGIS 9.3 software to create and edit data layers
- Mapping of pipelines from survey notes and construction drawings
- Interpretation and data entry from CAD drawings, field notes, and survey reports
- Working with imagery (satellite and aerial photography)
- Data processing and database loading utilizing FME or manual methods
- Conducting quality assurance testing of data
- Testing and troubleshooting of GIS implementations

Required Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 9.3 software and extensions
- Understanding of various GIS data formats
- Strong knowledge of geographic coordinate systems and transformation methods
- Strong database skills (Oracle and/or MS SQL Server), SQL experience is beneficial
- Proficient in Microsoft Access and Excel
- Strong organizational skills, self-starter, and good communicator in a team environment
- Prior industry background in pipelines, oil and gas exploration, and/or surveying will be an asset
