Job Description

|
We are the premier map-making company in Canada at the forefront in printed and digital mapping.
We are currently seeking a Spatial Database Administrator to start immediately.
Responsibilities include:
• Administering ArcGIS Server 9.3 for SQL Server 2008 including:
o Installation, up gradation, configuration, database tuning and troubleshooting
o Maintaining geo-database, backup and recovery, compressing, indexing and updating geo-database statistics
o Creating new geo-database, feature classes, views, relationships, topologies, raster catalogues and data import/export
o Creating and administering user accounts, versions, Log files and database archiving
o Creating and synchronizing geo-database replications
• Programming and GIS analysis:
o Develop new customized utilities in VBA using ArcObjects to automate data processing tasks
o Modify/enhance the functionalities of existing utilities developed in VBA-ArcObjects
o Geo-database processing, develop models to automate tasks, vector data editing, analysis and comparison of different geo-database.

Qualified candidates must (have):
• Expertise in ArcGIS Server 9.3 and SQL Server 2008
• Experienced user of ArcSDE commands
• Knowledge of geo-database management (raster and vector), RDBMS, normalization and other database concepts are essential
• Knowledge of VBA-ArcObjects programming
• Experienced user of ArcGIS Desktop-9x is essential
• Hands-on experience in geo-processing tools and SQL
• Excellent written and communication skills are required
• Knowledge of cartographic representation is a plus
• Degree in GIS/Geography/Computer science or equivalent program
• Certificates or diploma would be considered a valuable asset
• Candidate must be organized, creative, self-motivated as well as a good team player.
